If the goal of an evening at Huntington Park is a dinner and a show, Columbus Clippers fans certainly got both Tuesday. It was Dime-a-Dog Night and the Columbus Clippers put up a dime’s worth of runs as they battered the Omaha Storm Chasers 10-2 in front of their largest crowd of the season.

Columbus got the scoring started in the bottom of the third with a home run from Raynel Delgado off Storm Chasers’ starting pitcher Jonathan Bowlan. It was in the fifth inning, however, when the Clippers’ offense really broke through, scoring a whopping seven runs. The story of the inning was two-out free passes and runs batted in.

The onslaught knocked Bowlen out of the game. The Storm Chasers brought in relief pitcher Christian Chamberlain, who was unable to get an out. He struggled mightily with command as he walked three batters while giving up four runs on just one hit.

Clippers’ left fielder Oscar Gonzales snapped out of his recent funk by going two for three with a walk while driving in a run) The win was a nice bounce back for Columbus after losing a one-run affair Sunday afternoon in Louisville.

Starting pitcher Jerad Eickhoff got his first win of the 2023 campaign and his first in a Clippers’ uniform. He would go down as arguably the unsung hero Tuesday as he allowed just one run on four hits in his five innings of work. The Columbus bullpen would allow just one hit the rest of the way.

The Clippers and Storm Chasers will continue their six-game series at Huntington Park Wednesday. The first pitch for Wednesday’s matchup is scheduled for 12:05 pm.
