Coming into Friday’s state championship match with Summit Country Day (22-0-2), the Columbus Academy girls soccer team (18-4-2) had not allowed goal in tournament play, outscoring their opponents 19-0. In the state semifinal match, the Vikings beat Beaver Local, 4-0.
In the title contest, Academy, who was looking for their first state crown, found themselves up against a Silver Knights squad that was the two-time defending champion. The Knights came away with a 4-0 win, scoring all of their goals in the second half.

Neither side was able to score in the first half in a defense-dominated tilt. Summit Country Day’s Carolyn Federle got her team on the board, however, only 16 seconds into the second half.
The Knights would go on to add three more goals to capture their third straight title, their sixth in school history. Academy is a member of the Central Buckeye League, while Summit Country Day plays in the Miami Valley Conference.
