The Columbus Crew (2-0-0) picked up another three points Saturday, edging the New England Revolution 1-0 at Gillette Stadium. It was the Crew’s first road win after beating Atlanta, 4-2, at Lower.com Field a week ago. The Crew are tied at six points atop the MLS’s Eastern Conference with Philadelphia after the Union’s 4-1 home win Saturday against Cincinnati.

After a half of play, the Columbus and New England (0-1-1) were tied 0-0. The Revolution had their best chance to score at the 23′ mark when Luca Langoni had a free kick just outside the Crew’s box. His attempt made it through to the Black & Gold’s goalkeeper, Patrick Schulte, who kept the ball out of the net. Schulte finished the night with two saves and his first clean sheet of the season.

The only score of the match came in the 51st minute when Mohamed Farsi brought the ball into the right side of the Revolution zone and found Jacen Russell-Rowe entering the box from the left. Russell-Rowe did not waste a step and sent it across the pitch and past goalkeeper Aljaž Ivačič into the right edge of the net. Russell-Rowe has scored a goal in each of the Crew’s first two games.

The Crew cross the country for their next match. They’ll play LAFC next Tuesday at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles. The action gets underway at 10:30 p.m. EST.
