Denison 50, Oberlin 0
On Thursday at Deeds Field-Piper Stadium in Granville, the Denison Big Red (1-1) took a 37-0 lead at halftime and cruised to a 50-0 victory against the Oberlin Yeomen (0-2) in a non-conference contest. Denison outgained Oberlin with a 439 to 173 edge in total yards. Big Red quarterback Brian Rager threw for 124 yards and three TDs, while Blayton Reid, a Logan Elm alum, led the team with 85 yards rushing and two scores. Bishop Hartley’s Rory Ralston paced Denison with four solo tackles, including two sacks, while Beckett Boos recorded the first interception of his collegiate career.

Capital 44, Wilmington 19
The Capital Comets (2-0) played their home opener at Bernlohr Stadium in Bexley against the Wilmington Quakers (1-1) Saturday and came away with a 44-19 win. Comets quarterback Tyler Love, a Teays Valley grad, had 275 yards passing with two touchdowns, and 42 yards rushing. Bishop Hartley’s Brandon Hambric Jr. led Capital with 51 yards rushing and two scores. Wide receiver Finn Devine, a Gahanna alum, paced the Comets with four catches for 97 yards. On defense, cornerback  Bailey Johnson had six solo tackles, seven overall, and a forced fumble.

John Carroll 44, Ohio Wesleyan 7
The #9-ranked John Carroll Blue Streaks (2-0) traveled to Selby Stadium in Delaware Saturday and handed the Ohio Wesleyan Battling Bishops (1-1) their first loss of the season, 44-7. Franklin Heights grad Gio Rufus led the Bishops with 60 yards rushing and scored the team’s lone touchdown. Olentangy Orange’s Evan Thompson paced OWU with 40 yards receiving. Linebacker Miles Theetge recorded nine tackles for the Bishops, while DB Connor Stephens (Olentangy Orange) and LB Jacob Slyh (Grove City) each added seven stops. Theetge also forced a fumble.

Heidelberg 38, Otterbein 0
The Heidelberg Student Princes (2-0) were ahead just 14-0 at the halftime break against the Otterbein Cardinals (0-2) Saturday at Memorial Stadium in Westerville, but then accelerated to a 38-0 road victory. Both Kace Kinnamon and Duke Corley played quarterback for the Cardinals, combining for 167 yards passing. Corley added 40 yards rushing. Daniel Shaffer, a freshman from Hilliard Bradley, led Otterbein with six catches and 79 yards receiving. Bishop Ready’s Cullen Dent recorded two sacks to pace the Cardinals.
