The Durham Bulls scored at least a run in the first eight innings of their game with the Columbus Clippers at Huntington Park Sunday and came away with a 15-5 win in the teams’ series finale.

The Bulls raced out to a 5-0 lead in the first three innings. The Clippers responded with four runs in the bottom of the third, highlighted by Juan Brito’s three-run homer, his 21st long ball of the season. He leads the International League with 56 extra-base hits.

Durham then scored seven straight runs to take command of the game. On the afternoon, the Bulls had 16 hits, including five home runs. First baseman Bob Seymour accounted for three of the round-trippers, giving him 16 for the season.

The loss went to Columbus starter Logan Allen (3-3) who allowed eight runs in his four innings of work. Four of the Clippers’ five pitchers allowed runs, with only Randy Labaut throwing a scoreless inning. Durham reliever Joel Kuhnel (3-0) picked up the win.

With the loss, the Clippers’ lead in the Internationl League’s West Division was cut to four games over the Indianapolis Indians. Columbus has 12 games left in the regular season. The take Monday off, then host St. Paul Tuesday for the first of six games against the Saints. The first pitch Tuesday is set for 6:35 p.m.
