Earlier in August, the Korn Ferry Tour announced that former Ohio State golfer Neal Shipley became the third Korn Ferry member to secure PGA Tour membership for the 2026 season. Shipley has won two tournaments on that tour this season: the LECOM Suncoast Classic in April and the The Ascendant in July.

The Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania native’s victory at The Ascendant moved him into the top 100 of the Official World Golf Ranking for the first time. If Shipley wins a third tournament this season, he will move up immediately to the PGA Tour rather than wait until the beginning of the 2026 season.

The Korn Ferry Tour is back in action beginning September 11 at the Simmons Bank Open in Franklin, Tennessee. It comes to Columbus for the Nationwide Children’s Hospital Championship at the OSU Golf Course beginning September 18.

Shipley played three seasons at James Madison University before coming to Ohio State and playing two seasons. He made a splash on the golf scene after earning low amateur honors at the Masters Tournament and U.S. Open in 2024. He earned the right to play in both by being the runner-up at the 2023 U.S. Amateur Championship.
