Fury volleyballs in cart

It’s been a season of streaks for the Columbus Fury. The latest one was three losses in matches that they played well early but couldn’t keep their momentum in later sets.

That changed Friday night at Nationwide Arena when they hosted the Vegas Thrill. All three sets were close, but the Fury captured them for an exciting sweep of the Thrill: 25-23, 25-21, and 25-23. The Fury won the final point of the match with an out-of-rotation call against Vegas.

Izabella Rapacz paced Columbus with 42 attacks and 20 kills. She leads the team with 185 kills this season. Marengo native Terry Raina added 12 kills. Setter Wilma Rivera had 35 assists and 13 digs for the Fury.

It was also good news for Columbus that captain Megan Lush was back on the floor for the Fury against Vegas. She saw limited time after missing the last four matches and the PVF All-Star Game in Indianapolis with a lower body injury.

The Fury are next in action at Indianapolis next Thursday to take on the Ignite in a match beginning at 7:00 p.m. EDT. Fans can watch the action from Fishers Event Center on the Roku Channel.
