The Ohio State men’s lacrosse squad (11-2, 3-1) fell for just the second time this season as the visiting Maryland Terrapins (9-2, 2-2) took an early lead and held on for a 13-8 victory Saturday.

The only other Buckeye loss was suffered in the first week of the season at home to Utah. Saturday’s defeat was the first  in Big Ten play. OSU is now tied with Michigan in the Big Ten’s top spot.

On Saturday, the Terps led 9-3 at halftime. The Buckeyes were able to reduce the margin by one in the second half, but could not threaten Maryland’s lead. Ed Sheen and Dillon Magee each scored two goals to pace the Bucks. Magee’s goals were his first two of the season.

Ohio State travels to Michigan next Saturday for a game that will determine the Big Ten regular season champion. Both teams are 4-1 in the conference. Their game Saturday is the final regular season tilt for both. The action at U-M Lacrosse Stadium gets underway at 4:00 p.m. and can be seen on the Big Ten Network.
