The Ohio State women’s soccer team’s NCAA journey came to an end Friday with a 4-1 loss to Florida State in Tallahassee. The Seminoles move on to the Division I Final Four with the victory.
To get to the Elite Eight match Friday, the unranked Buckeyes beat #19-ranked Georgia in Athens, then #1 Notre Dame and #23 Baylor in South Bend, Ind. The matches against Notre Dame and Baylor went to double-overtime before a winner was decided.
On Friday, Florida State scored twice in the first half to lead 2-0 going to the halftime break. Amanda Schlueter got the Buckeyes on the board four and a half minutes into the second half, but the Seminoles scored twice after that to capture the victory.
Ohio State finishes the season with a record of 11-5-6, 4-2-5 in Big Ten conference play. The good news for the Buckeyes is that all 11 of their players who recorded at least two points on the season are underclassmen, led by Schlueter, a junior, with 11 goals and 27 points.
