The United Football League revealed the Columbus Aviators team name, colors, and logo Tuesday.

Columbus’ newest professional sports teams logo features a red “A” for Aviators, with the cross of the letter a light shade of blue and in the shape of a propellor. A dark blue badge wraps around the letter.

The name is a nod to the history of flight and aviation in the Columbus area.

Also announced by the UFL were the Louisville Kings and Orlando Storm franchises. The three new teams replace the San Antonio Brahmas, Michigan Panthers, and Memphis Showboats.

The UFL will play with eight teams in its 2026 season. The other franchises are the Birmingham Stallions, Dallas Renegades, DC Defenders, St. Louis Battlehawks, and the newly named Houston Gamblers, who previously went by the Roughriders.

“Today marks an important step forward for the United Football League,” said Mike Repole, co-owner of the UFL.

“Columbus, Louisville, and Orlando are true football cities with deep sports roots,” added Repole. “We’re proud to bring professional football to these communities.”

Repole has particularly high hopes for Columbus.

“I look forward to the days of watching 20,000 people at Columbus Aviators games,” he said. “I feel pretty confident that (we can see that number) with the local community work we plan on doing.”

“It’s a great market. … They love football.”

The team is scheduled to begin play at Historic Crew Stadium in the early portion of spring 2026. The league’s season kicks off March 27th.
