ODU rallies for home win over Cedarville

The Ohio Dominican baseball team (10-20) rallied twice in its game with visiting Cedarville (12-17) Wednesday to win 11-6 in G-MAC play.
The Yellow Jackets jumped to an early lead, scoring four runs in the top of the first inning at Frank Damian Field. ODU cut the lead in half in the second when Mason Kurtz, a Buckeye Valley grad, doubled to drive in a run, then later came home on a Cedarville throwing error.
Kurtz reduced the Yellow Jacket lead even further with a solo home run in the fourth inning. The Panthers took the lead in the fifth with a two-run homer from C.J. Dean, a Centennial alum. and made it 6-4 with an unearned run in the sixth. The Yellow Jackets tied the game with two unearned runs in the seventh.
Ohio Dominican secured the victory, scoring five times in the eighth inning. Noah Schacht knocked in the first run with a sacrifice fly. Peter Jelenic then singled a run home. The last three runs of the game came when Drew Emerson hit his first long ball of the season.
Reliever Steven Chapman (2-2) tossed a scoreless eighth inning and picked up the win for the Panthers. Andrew Mouch threw a perfect ninth, getting two fly-outs and a ground-out on four pitches.
ODU will play three home games this weekend against Cedarville. The teams will play a doubleheader Friday (1:00 and 3:30 p.m) and a single game Saturday (3:00 p.m.). Fans can catch all of the action on the Ohio Dominican sports website.
