Ohio State volleyball tops Lincoln Memorial Friday

The #13-ranked Ohio State men’s volleyball squad (4-1, 0-0 MIVA) hosted the Lincoln Memorial Railsplitters (3-2, 0-0 Ind.) at the Covelli Center Friday and came away with a 3-0 sweep, posting scores of 25-17, 25-16, and 28-26. Buckeye head coach Kevin Burch recorded his 100th victory at Ohio State.

Senior Shane Wetzel once again paced the Buckeyes with 12 kills. He also had five digs, an ace, and a block. Sophomore Stanislaw Chacinski recorded 10 kills and two blocks, while junior Eliel Salva-Torres, who transferred from Lincoln Memorial to OSU prior to this season, had nine kills and a team-high six blocks.

Sophomore setter Daniel Henwood Rodriguez led all players with 32 assists and added eight digs for the Buckeyes. Ohio State and Lincoln Memorial were slated to play another match on Saturday, but it was canceled due to the expected winter storm.

The Buckeyes head to the warmer climes of Los Angeles next weekend. They play #1-ranked UCLA Friday at Pauley Pavilion and #5 USC at the Galen Center Saturday. Both matches begin at 10:00 p.m. EST. Friday’s tilt can be seen on the Big Ten Network, while Saturday’s action will be on Big Ten+.
