The Ohio State women’s soccer team (14-1-1, 10-1-0 Big Ten) blanked Illinois (5-5-7, 2-5-4 Big Ten) 3-0 Sunday to become the outright Big Ten regular season champions. The Buckeyes’ 10 conference wins is the most in their history. The title makes them the #1 overall seed in the upcoming Big Ten Tournament, which means a first round bye.

In Sunday’s contest at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium, OSU’s leading scorer, Amanda Schleuter, got the Buckeyes on the board with a goal in the 19th minute. The senior from Union, Kentucky leads the team with 15 goals and five assists.

After a team goal, Ohio State’s Elle Britt wound up the game’s scoring with her seventh goal of the season. OSU goalkeeper Peighton Northrup recorded her 13th win and ninth solo shutout of the campaign.

The Buckeyes have one game remaining in the regular season. They travel to Ann Arbor for a match with the Michigan Wolverines (7-4-5, 5-4-2 Big Ten) on Friday. The kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at U-M Soccer Stadium.
