Longtime administrator Bob Goldring will retire at the end of July and a pair of veteran school administrators have joined the OHSAA staff, OHSAA Executive Director Doug Ute has announced.

With Goldring’s retirement, the OHSAA has added Andy Bixler as Director of Eligibility and Student Services, and Scott Kaufman as Director of Sport Administration and Operations. They both join the OHSAA after serving at OHSAA member schools for more than 30 years. Their bio information is below.

Goldring joined the staff in October 1995 and held many titles over the years. Twice during his 31-year career at the OHSAA he was tasked with serving as Interim Executive Director, including during the summer of 2020 when the OHSAA developed policies and procedures for school sports during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Bob’s previous work was in collegiate sports information offices at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology (Terre Haute, Ind.), Purdue University, and as assistant sports information director from May 1990 to September 1995 at Ohio State, where he earned two degrees.

Bixler joins the OHSAA as Director of Eligibility and Student Services after serving as the superintendent of Anna Local Schools in Southwest Ohio for the last 20 years. He was a member of the Southwest District Athletic Board for 22 years and also served two terms on the OHSAA Board of Directors.

Bixler began his career in education as a math teacher and multi-sport coach at Brookville and Preble Shawnee High Schools from 1992 to 1999. He then served as high school principal at Preble Shawnee High School before becoming principal at Anna High School from 2001 to 2006.

Kaufman joins the OHSAA as Director of Sport Administration and Operations after serving as the Athletic Director and Assistant Principal at Lakota West High School in Southwest Ohio since 2013. During his 34 years in education he also taught, coached or served as an administrator at Cincinnati Princeton, Cincinnati Seven Hills, and Cincinnati Wyoming.

In other news, OHSAA Director of Officiating and Football Administrator Beau Rugg will serve as the administrator for girls flag football, which is a new OHSAA recognized sport for the 2026-27 school year.

Sport Administrator BJ Duckworth will continue in his role as sport administrator for cross country and track and field and will add field hockey and swimming and diving to his duties.
