After beating the UCLA Bruins in front of a national television audience Saturday, the Ohio State men’s basketball team (13-5, 5-3 Big Ten) hosted the Minnesota Gophers (10-9, 3-5 Big Ten) Tuesday.
The Buckeyes scored the first 10 points of the game, but a feisty Gopher squad battled throughout the contest and forced overtime. The Buckeyes never trailed in the extra frame and came away with an 82-74 victory.Â
John Mobley Jr. paced the Buckeyes with 26 points, fueled by five three-pointers. Bruce Thornton had 23 points, adding seven rebounds and four steals, both team highs. Also in double figures for Ohio State were Devin Royal (16) and Christoph Tilly (11). Royal scored five of his 16 in overtime.
The Buckeyes head to Ann Arbor Friday for a tilt against the #1-ranked Michigan Wolverines (17-1, 7-1 Big Ten). Game time at the Crisler Center is 8:00 p.m. All of the action can be seen on Fox.
