The Ohio State men’s basketball team (11-4, 3-2) traveled to Eugene, Ore. Thursday to take on the Oregon Ducks (8-8, 1-4) in a Big Ten contest. The Buckeyes were coming off a 72-69 home loss to the undefeated #10-ranked Nebraska Cornhuskers Monday. The Buckeyes bounced back against Oregon, winning 72-62.
All five starters scored in double figures for the Buckeyes, with Christoph Tilly and Pickerington Central’s Devin Royal each posting 14 points to lead the team. Royal made it a double-double with a team-leading 10 rebounds. Reynoldsburg native John Mobley Jr. scored 13, with Bruce Thornton adding 12 and Amare Bynum 11.
For the second time in three games, the Buckeyes had only one bench player with points. Gabe Cupps scored nine. Two games ago, against Rutgers, it was Brandon Noel with 14. In the Nebraska home game, there were no scorers who did not start. So, OSU has posted only 23 points off the bench in its last three outings.
Ohio State completes its two-game Western road trip with a contest at Washington Sunday beginning at 6:00 p.m. EST. The Huskies (9-6, 1-3) fell at #5 Purdue, 81-73, Wednesday. All of the action Sunday can be seen on Peacock.
