The Ohio State softball team (34-10-1) was in Dayton to take on the Flyers (20-14) in a mid-week non-conference game. The Buckeyes scored early and often, and got solid outings from the two pitchers who took the mound to win 11-2 in five innings.

OSU spread out its offensive attack with five different players collecting two hits. Four players hit home runs for the Scarlet & Gray – Kami Kortakrax, Hailey Lang, Skylar Limon, and Taylor Cruse. For Lang, a sophomore from Ashland, she hit the first round-tripper in the first start of her collegiate career.

Layna Gerhard (6-0) got the start for the Buckeyes and picked up her sixth win of the season in eight starts. She went four innings, giving up two runs on six hits and a walk, while striking out two. Kassandra Gewecke tossed a scoreless fifth inning.

The Buckeyes continue to be at the top of the NCAA in power statistics. They are first in the country in home runs, run scored, runs batted in, and slugging percentage. OSU is second nationally in walks, third in doubles and on-base percentage.

Ohio State returns home for a weekend series against archrival Michigan. The three-game series will feature single games on Friday (6:00 p.m.), Saturday (2:00 p.m.), and Sunday (1:00 p.m.).
