The Ohio State men’s volleyball team (15-10, 10-5) headed to West Central Illinois to take on the Quincy University Hawks (8-18, 2-13) in a two-match series beginning Friday. The Buckeyes showed no sign of travel fatigue, sweeping Quincy 3-0 in the opener – 25-21, 25-19, and 25-18.

Junior Shane Wetzel, who was named the AVCA and MIVA player of the week last week, continued his outstanding level of play against the Hawks. He recorded 20 kills, 10 in the first set, and nine digs, both team highs. Freshman Daniel Henwood Rodriguez paced the Bucks with 29 assists.

Two Buckeyes set career milestones in the match. Senior Cole Young, an Olentangy Liberty grad, reached 700 kills and 300 assist blocks. Grad Thomas Leahey had four kills, including the last of the match, to get to 500 in his career.

The teams meet again Saturday at the Quincy University Athletics Center. The match is scheduled to begin at 5:00 p.m. and can be seen on the Quincy athletics website.
