The Pickerington Central Tigers are going to the OHSAA state title game next weekend after downing Rocky River Magnificat 49-41 in overtime at Mansfield Senior High School Sunday. The Tigers trailed 23-15 at the half, but rebounded with an intense defensive effort to force an extra period and grab the win.

Sophomore Zoe Coleman paced Pick Central with 13 points. Junior London Johnson was the other Tiger in double figures with 12.

In 2018, the Tigers won their only state championship. Pickerington High School split into two schools, Central and North, in 2003. Between 1985 and 1999, Pickerington won six Division I crowns. Pickerington Central fell in the state semi-finals a year ago to the Springboro Panthers.

Cincinnati Princeton, a member of the Greater Miami Conference, is 21-6 after beating Springboro 49-47 Sunday at Fairborn Arena. With Sunday’s victory, the Vikings have won 14 straight. Princeton won state titles in 1987, 2014, and 2023.

The championship game is set for Saturday at University of Dayton Arena at 8:30 p.m.
