The Columbus Clippers are trying to right the ship (apologies). Going into Wednesday’s afternoon contest at Victory Park in Indianapolis, Columbus had lost six of their last seven games. On Wednesday, Micah Pries hit two home runs, driving in all four Clippers’ runs in a 4-3 victory.

In addition to Pries’s outstanding performance, six of Columbus’s starters hit safely, with lead-off Petey Halpin cranking out three hits, including his sixth double of the season. Going into the game, Halpin was batting at a .387 clip since moving into the top spot in the lineup on April 26.

Columbus got a quality start from Ryan Webb (2-1), who allowed only one run on three hits and picked up the win in his five innings of work. Franco Aleman, who just came off the 7-day IL, and Nic Enright each tossed an inning of shutout baseball. Luis Frías pitched out of a jam in the ninth inning to earn his second save of the year.

The teams will square off again Thursday at an even earlier hour. The action at Victory Field gets started at 11:05 a.m. Taking the hill for Columbus will be lefty Doug Nikhazy (1-1, 4.84). Braxton Ashcraft (3-2, 4.73) will start for the Indians.
