The Columbus Fury were coming off a loss in San Diego to the Mojo after a three-game winning streak. Unfortunately, they returned home Wednesday to take on the league-leading Omaha Supernovas. The Supernovas had won five of their last six coming into their match with the Fury.
Columbus battled in each of the first three sets against Omaha, but the Supernovas countered each threat to sweep the Fury – 25-17, 25-17, 25-23. Kaylee Cox led Columbus with 11 kills. Setter Wilma Rivera had 25 assists and libero Kate Georgiades recorded nine digs. Paula Cerame and Abby Walker each had serving aces.
Former Ohio State star Emily Londot, a native of Utica, led all players with 15 kills. Londot is a rookie with the Supernovas. A former member of the Fury, Reagan Cooper, had 13 kills for Omaha.
Fury captain Megan Lush missed her third game with a lower body injury. Next up for Columbus is a trip to Orlando for a match against the Valkyries Sunday at Addition Financial Arena. The first serve is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
