Scott Williams named to head CCS athletics and activities

The Columbus City Schools have named Scott Williams as the new Director of the Office of Student Athletics and Activities for the 2026-2027 school year. Williams comes most recently from West High School where he was a school counselor.

“I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to continue serving Columbus City Schools in this new role,” Williams said. “I’m excited to work alongside our schools to expand opportunities that help every student discover their strengths, feel valued and connected to their school communities.”

Prior to serving as a school counselor, Williams served as a CCS high school athletic director for 13 years at Northland High School and Marion-Franklin High School.

In his new role, Williams will support student athletics and activity programs across CCS’s 110 neighborhood schools. He will collaborate with school leaders, coaches, advisors, and community partners on extracurricular programming and athletic operations while helping ensure programs follow CCS policies and state athletic regulations.

“Mr. Williams is a student-centered leader who understands the important role athletics and activities play in helping students feel connected to school,” said CCS Superintendent/CEO Dr. Angela Chapman. “His experience as a school counselor and athletic director, along with his commitment to mentorship and relationship-building, make him a strong choice to lead this work across our District.”

Williams will begin serving in his new role ahead of the 2026-2027 school year.
