For the second straight night, the Columbus Clippers allowed the Omaha Storm Chasers to batter Clipper pitching and win big. On Wednesday at Werner Park, Omaha scored two in the first inning, then six total in the later innings to come out on top, 8-3.

After Omaha posted a two-run shot by Nick Lofton in the first inning, Columbus scored single runs in the third and fifth innings to tie the score. In the third, Milan Tolentino homered with one out. In the fifth, Dom Nuñez went deep to lead off the frame. Tolentino now has 11 RBIs, while Nuñez has knocked in 15.s

The Storm Chasers scored a total of six times in the sixth, seventh, and eighth innings combined to put the game away. The Clippers added a run in the eighth when Johnathan Rodríguez singled to bring in Petey Halpin from third base. It was Rodríguez’s 15th RBI of the season.

Columbus starter Doug Nikhazy (1-3) took the loss, going 5.2 innings and allowing four runs on four hits and three walks. Both relievers for the Clippers, Franco Aleman and Andrew Misiaszek, gave up two runs in their work out of the bullpen. Omaha starter Thomas Hatch (2-2) picked up the win.

Game three of the series in Omaha will be played Thursday beginning at 7:35 p.m. Taking the mound for Columbus will be Vince Velasquez (0-0, 4.74), who will face Luinder Avilar (2-1, 4.11) for the Storm Chasers.
