Terriers ride big third period to beat Buckeyes

The Boston University Terriers (23-13-2) scored five unanswered goals in the third period of their game against the Ohio State men’s hockey team (24-14-2) and came away with an 8-3 win in their NCAA regional semifinal contest Thursday at the Huntington Center in Toledo.

The Buckeyes came in as the #9 seed, BU as the #8 seed. Ohio State led most of the first two periods until the Terriors tied things at 3-3 with 1:59 left in the second stanza. Boston then took their first lead 2:18 into the third and never looked back, scoring four more times, including two short-handed goals.

Grad Joe Dunlap scored the first two goals for the Buckeyes, while Max Montes added a score in the second period. Grad Aiden Hansen-Bukata, a transfer from the Rochester Institute of Technology, recorded two assists for Ohio State. 

The Terriers will go on to play a regional final game against Cornell Saturday at Huntington Center. The Big Red upset #2 seed Michigan State Thursday evening.
