The Indianapolis Indians completed a three-game sweep of the Columbus Clippers with a dominant 13-6 win at Huntington Park Sunday. Indy scored all of their runs before the Clippers got on the board. Here are our three takeaways from Sunday’s series finale:

1.    The Clippers’ hitters are not to be faulted for Sunday’s embarrassing loss to Indianapolis. Columbus pitchers gave up 13 runs in the first five innings. On the day, Indianapolis amassed 15 hits, six walks, and a hit batter. On the other hand, the final three hurlers – Daniel Espino, Alaska Abney, and Logan McGuire – closed out the game without allowing a run on three combined hits. It was the Triple-A debut for both Abney and McGuire.

2.   Columbus put together their six runs on nine hits beginning in the bottom of the fifth inning. They continue to put the ball in play after spending much of this season averaging nine strikeouts a game. On Sunday, they only recorded three Ks at the plate. Bo Naylor hit the only home run for the Clippers, his sixth of the season in 37 games with Columbus. The Clips posted four doubles on the afternoon with Dayan Frias’s pinch-hit two-bagger driving in two runs.

3.   There have been some new faces this past week in Columbus as the Clippers retool following the mid-summer break. In addition to Abney and McGuire, pitcher Cam Walty moved up in the Guardians’ system. The Clippers have also added some power with outfielder Alfonsin Rosario. In addition to the Triple-A debuts, the Clippers have a couple of players on rehab assignment from Cleveland – left-handed pitcher Tim Herrin and outfielder Angel Martínez.
