The Columbus Clippers and Omaha Storm Chasers sat through an hour and fifty-five minute rain delay before starting Saturday night at Huntington Park. The game was changed to a seven-inning contest that the Clippers won when Kody Huff hit a two-run homer to give his team a 3-2 walk-off win. Here are our three takeaways from Saturday’s water-logged contest:

1.    Huff’s home run was his second in as many games for the Clippers. The catcher turned infielder now has nine long balls this season, tied with another backstop, Cooper Ingle. Both are just two behind team leader Kahlil Watson. Huff does pace Columbus with 43 runs batted in.

2.   Logan Allen was back on form Saturday, going six innings and allowing just one run on four hits while striking out 10 Storm Chasers. Daniel Espino pitched the top of the seventh and  picked up the win to even his record at 1-1. Allen leads Columbus with 56 Ks in 47.1 innings of work. He has walked only 24.

3.   The Clippers are creating players who are versatile in the field. Cooper Ingle was back behind the plate Saturday with Huff at first base. First baseman Ralphy Velazquez was in left field. Shortstop Gabriel Arias, back in Columbus on a rehab assignment, was at third base while Milan Tolentino moved to short.

Columbus and Omaha wind up their six-game series with a contest Sunday beginning at 1:05 p.m. RHP Rorik Maltrud (1-0, 3.13) gets the start for the Clippers, while the Storm Chasers counter with RHP Henry Williams (0-0, 8.59). Columbus will have Monday off before heading to Indianapolis for a Tuesday series opener.
