The Columbus Clippers beat the Indianapolis Indians 9-6 Sunday to come away with a series split. The Clippers won their last three games in Indy after falling in the first three. On Sunday, Dayan Frias drove in three runs with two homers in the win. Here are our three takeaways from Sunday’s series finale:

1.    The Clippers scored 35 runs in the Indianapolis series in six games, an average of almost six runs a contest. The offense continues to produce, while the pitching staff continues to struggle, allowing 31 scores by the Indians. Columbus is 69-60 on the season, but their hurlers have a combined ERA of 5.48, second worst in the 20-team International League.

2.   The two hitters sent down from the Cleveland Guardians most recently, Daniel Schneemann and Kyle Manzardo, have been two of the hottest at the plate, only behind #1 prospect Ralphy Velazquez, who was the IL Player of the Week last week. In 25 games, the versatile Schneeman is hitting .328 with three home runs and 10 RBIs, and has recorded 23 walks. In 20 games, Manzardo is hitting .308 with four home runs and 28 runs batted in.

3.   Columbus reliever Slade Cecconi has had a tepid start to his rehab stint with the Clippers. In 3.1 combined innings in his two appearances since coming back to pitch for the first time since April, the 27-year-old has given up two runs on three hits while striking out three. Cecconi has appeared in 73 MLB games for the Diamondbacks and Guardians over four seasons.
